NEGOTIATIONS WERE HELD BETWEEN TURKMENISTAN AND AFGHANISTAN

On January 15, 2016 negotiations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Afghanistan were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Afghan delegation was headed by the Minister of Finance of the country Mr. Eklil Ahmad Hakimi.
The sides confirmed the mutual commitment of the two countries to the course of further intensification of the bilateral dialogue, discussed the situation in the region and the priorities for the development of the Turkmen-Afghan cooperation in various fields.
The sides noted the important role of intergovernmental cooperation in trade, economic, energy and transport sectors. The subjects of special attention were the issues of implementation of the relevant joint infrastructure projects such as the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline and the railway Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan. They also discussed the issues of humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of education and health.
The delegation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan expressed sincere gratitude for the constant assistance provided by Turkmenistan in the reconstruction of Afghanistan, praised the work of Turkmenistan's participation in the stabilization and the establishment of a peaceful and prosperous life in the neighboring country.
The Turkmen side stressed that Turkmenistan is guided by the principles of good neighborliness, of humanism and solidarity, and intend to continue to provide practical assistance to the brotherly country.
