ASHGABAT HOSTED A CONFERENCE DEVOTED TO THE ROLE OF TRANSPORT AND TRANSIT CORRIDORS
On December 29, 2015 a conference on "The Role of Transport and Transit Corridors: International Cooperation for the purpose of Sustainable Development" was organized at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The conference was attended by deputies of the Mejlis, heads of corresponding ministries and departments, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and representations of international organizations working in Turkmenistan, the officers of the diplomatic service of Turkmenistan, professors and students of several higher educational institutions, representatives of public organizations and mass media of our countries.
Progressive politics and the creative initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan found broad support of the international community, as illustrated by adopted on December 22, 2015 the UN General Assembly resolution on the creation of transit transport corridors.
During the conference, speakers commented that the relevance of international initiatives of President of Turkmenistan confirmed by time as transport sphere is one of the key segments of the global economy and an essential factor in global sustainable development, directly affecting the stability and balanced economic relations. Taking an active role in issues of interaction in the UN and other international organizations, Turkmenistan together with the foreign partners initiates and implements major infrastructure projects, making a significant contribution to the formation of branched transport infrastructure in regional and transcontinental scale.
At the end of the conference the participants adopted the Address to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in which the participants congratulated the Leader of the nation with the adoption of UN General Assembly resolution on the establishment of transit transport corridors and expressed their firm belief that pursued by President of Turkmenistan tireless work in the field of foreign policy and diplomacy, the implementation of fundamental reforms of great importance for the people, are the guarantor of prosperity, a happy and peaceful life of the people of our country.
