Negotiations between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China held in Beijing

On March 18, 2026, in Beijing, as part of the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to the People's Republic of China, a meeting took place between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Wang Yi.

During the constructive conversation, the diplomats noted with satisfaction that, thanks to the wise policy and personal trusting relations between the top leadership of the two countries, the Turkmen-Chinese strategic partnership has acquired a qualitatively new dimension.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that the National Leader of the Turkmen people is a long-standing and loyal friend of the Chinese people. It was noted that the solid foundation of friendship laid by the heads of state serves as a reliable guide for the sustainable development of bilateral ties.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov congratulated the Chinese side on the successful holding of the "two sessions" and reaffirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to supporting China's four global initiatives aimed at ensuring security and sustainable development worldwide.

Special attention was paid to the preparations for the upcoming third "Central Asia – China" Summit, which is intended to become an effective platform for deepening multilateral dialogue.

"Turkmenistan and China, relying on centuries-old traditions of friendship and principles of equality, will continue to steadily advance interstate relations along the path of progress in the interests of global peace and prosperity," the meeting participants emphasized.

At the conclusion of the talks, the parties exchanged views on topical issues on the international agenda, confirming the similarity of their positions on strengthening regional stability and security.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of complete mutual understanding and was aimed at further expanding multi-vector cooperation in the spirit of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
