On June 26, 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Regional Coordinator of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for Central Asia Serhan Aktoprak.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and IOM.

As noted, in connection with the current situation in the Middle East, Turkmenistan, guided by the principles of humanism and permanent positive neutrality, has shown activity in the political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict and resolution of humanitarian issues. The actions of the Turkmen state in this situation reflect a commitment to ensuring orderly, safe and legal migration, which in turn corresponds to the obligations under the Global Compact for Migration. The parties agreed to strengthen coordination of work in emergencies.

The progress of activities carried out in accordance with the Action Plan for the current year, in particular the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), was also reviewed.
