Opening Ceremony of the V World Nomad Games

The Opening Ceremony of the V World Nomad Games was held on September 8, 2024. The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the ceremonial event.

Upon arrival at the venue of the opening ceremony of the current sports competitions, the National Leader of the Turkmen people was warmly welcomed by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

After taking pictures against the backdrop of the banner of the World Nomad Games, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the heads of delegations from other states, numerous guests of honor took their seats on the VIP stand.

After the introduction and greetings of the top officials of the host country, the anthems of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Nomad Games were played at the stadium.

It should be recalled that the idea of ​​holding the Nomad Games was first conceived in Kyrgyzstan. Today, these major competitions, based on the folk games of the historically nomadic peoples of Central Asia, bring together participants and teams from all over the world. Another notable fact is the inclusion of the World Nomad Games in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The main symbol and key element at the first three Nomad Games, which Kyrgyzstan hosted, was water. This tradition has been continued at the current Games in Kazakhstan. In this regard, an important part of the celebration was the arrival of a caravan of batyrs with torsyks (leather flasks) filled with sacred water, representing all regions of the country.

Then the traditional parade of athletes began - the national teams march under national flags. During the competition, 97 sets of medals will be awarded in 21 sports, including horse racing, national wrestling, traditional intellectual games, martial arts competitions, archery, national types of bird hunting, horseback riding competitions, and folk games.

Turkmenistan is represented at the 5th World Nomad Games by 29 athletes.

Then there was a bright theatrical performance reflecting the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan. In conclusion, thousands of performers participating in this evening performed a musical composition about the friendship of peoples.

The celebration ended with colorful fireworks.
