Meeting held at the MFA of Turkmenistan with a representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights

On 30 June 2026, a meeting was held between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, M. Byashimova, and the Regional Advisor on the Universal Periodic Review of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Pavlo Byalik.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, as well as on interaction within the framework of the Universal Periodic Review mechanism.

It was noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to constructive partnership with the OHCHR and considers the Universal Periodic Review as an effective international mechanism for further improving state policy in the field of human rights.

The parties emphasized the importance of continuing joint work aimed at developing an inclusive society, ensuring equal opportunities, and strengthening international cooperation in the field of human rights protection.

During the meeting, mutual interest was expressed in further expanding cooperation, including exchange of experience, expert support, and implementation of joint initiatives within the framework of cooperation with the United Nations.
